RHOC Vicki Gunvalson Reveals Why She Sued Kelly Dodd

During part one of the Season 14 Real Housewives of Orange County reunion special, host Andy Cohen brought up Vicki Gunvalson’s lawsuit against Kelly Dodd. And, the OG of the OC finally explained why she took legal action against her co-star.

According to Page Six, Gunvalson filed a lawsuit in November against Dodd because she said some things about her during filming for RHOC, and she didn’t want those comments to make it on air.

There were three quotes that Gunvalson wanted edited out: “you prey on older people,” “you are a con woman,” and “you engaged in fraud.” Dodd was apparently calling Gunvalson out over a fraud lawsuit that Joan Lile, an 82-year-old woman, had filed against Gunvalson and her business, Coto Insurance & Financial Services.

As fans know, Gunvalson and Dodd have been feuding for months, so why would these three statements spark a lawsuit?

Cohen noted that Gunvalson almost didn’t go to the reunion taping because “somebody named Jane Roe filed a lawsuit against Bravo and the production company that produces this show, Evolution, over some statements that were made on the show.”

Cohen also revealed that the lawsuit was filed by “Jane Roe,” and that turned out to be Gunvalson. He said that at the core of the dispute between Gunvalson and Dodd was the pre-existing lawsuit filed by Lile, and Cohen wanted to know what that was all about.

“Well I can’t talk about it because we go to mediation on the 20th, but I will say, anybody who goes after my business, I’m the CEO of a major corporation and I insure thousands and thousands of people, so for anybody to insinuate that I am fraudulent, con woman, or anything other than the truth, they’re gonna get sued,” Gunvalson responded.

Lile sued Gunvalson and her insurance company for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and breach of contract after she paid increasing premiums, but didn’t receive benefits when her husband died.

When Cohen pointed out that filing a lawsuit over the comments brought more attention to Dodd’s fraud accusations, Gunvalson said she didn’t care because nobody is going to go after her business.

Gunvalson eventually dropped her lawsuit against Dodd, but Lile’s fraud case continues.
